Stockholm Maladies

Tabitha continues to battle her flu bug so we had to postpone one of her final exams today.  Hopefully she will be well enough to take the two that she has scheduled for tomorrow.  She seems to be slightly better this evening.
I spent most of my day at home today with Tabitha.  She didn't really need me but in case she did, I wanted to be here.  I was also waiting for the guys to come to install our fiber optic cable for our new high speed internet.  This project has been in the works for months and months and months but these old, old buildings do not lend themselves well to new infrastructure.  After two guys worked for a couple of hours this afternoon, the job was finally completed!  We are sooooo excited!  The account still needs to be set up by our landlords but we should soon have reliable, consistent high speed internet that reaches beyond just two rooms of our house!  Hurray!!
When I walk in the direction of the city, I always pass the area in front of the Stockholm School of Economics.  When we first moved here, I swear that this area contained a big fountain.  This fountain, sans water, has now become a skate park!  I can't figure out if this is intentional or if it is permanent.  It is certainly a popular spot, however.
I joined two friends late this afternoon for a quick fika.  We went to a place that we had been hearing about.  It is actually in a church.  We don't know if we were actually sitting in the church part or in an extra room but it sure felt like we were on the altar itself.  It was beautiful and interesting and the coffee was good!

Max volunteered to bring homemade semla to his Swedish language fair tomorrow, so tonight, we had our work cut out for us.  I have never made these sweet cream-filled Fat Tuesday buns before but they turned out well and look just right!

As a physical therapist, I always get the orthopedic related questions from my friends.  I don't mind a bit but I am starting to notice a trend in this urban environment that we live in.  Several friends are suffering from tennis elbow.  This seems to be very prevalent in those of us without cars who are always carrying shopping bags home from the store and/or always walking our dogs on leashes.  The other common malady is plantar fasciitis.  This is definitely aggravated by all of the walking that we do around here, in not so supportive shoes and by the fact that we are all always barefoot when we are inside.  No one has support on their feet!
Along those same lines, the three men that came and went today for the internet absolutely would not step out of entry way area with their shoes on.  Even though they were running in and out and only taking two steps to what they needed to see in the apartment.  I finally told them that it was okay, I was American and it is okay to wear your shoes in my home. (They were not even remotely dirty!)  They said "Oh, okay, you are used to it" but they still couldn't make themselves do it.  I must have watched them slip on and off their shoes 15 times before they were finished.
