Today was another warm and beautiful day! In fact, the boys and I wore shorts all day and were not cold! We decided to find a disc golf course, and throw some frisbees. First, we had to buy some discs since we only brought one with us when we moved here. Josh and I set off and after 3 stores and lots of frustration and walking, we finally found what we wanted. $90 later, we had purchased two sets and were ready to go. We headed home, grabbed some lunch and the boys (Tabitha was studying) and headed out to a park on the island of
Södermalm in Stockholm. I had read that this
big park, along the water, had a 9 hole disc golf course that might just be our technical level. Unfortunately, after walking through the very nice park for a very long time, we only found one disc golf "hole" that was actually in good enough shape to use and even it was so surrounded by sunbathing Swedes that we couldn't use it if we wanted. But, it didn't really matter, the park was beautiful, the walk was fun, the weather was gorgeous, and we saw all sorts of interesting sights!
Thousands of sunbathing and picnicking Swedes…
An unbelievable amount of people swimming and playing on the "beach"! 68 degree air temperature and God-only-knows how cold the water was in Årstaviken bay in the Baltic Sea!! Crazy!
And hundreds of garden
"allotments" and cottages from the 20's and 30's. These tiny little houses built on privately owned garden plots are the homes of Stockholmers on weekends and summers to enjoy nature. Super cute but unbelievably small! We saw them in heavy use today however, with people working in their gardens, BBQ'ing, and just lounging in the sunshine.
We walked and climbed for miles and miles before catching the subway to come home. We all had fun, but of course, Max, most of all.
Josh and I had a great night out last night. We enjoyed some wonderful Thai food for a nice celebration of our 21 anniversary!
