Rainy Days...

Today was a cold and rainy one.  Never even reaching 50 degrees.  Yuck!  I had a lot of errands to run this morning and a doctor's appointment to take Calvin to.  After that though, it was time to be brave and get my first hair cut in Sweden!  I have been avoiding this experience for a variety of reasons… First of all, it is almost $100 for just a hair cut here and I hate spending that kind of money.  Second of all, it is always a leap of faith to have someone new cut your hair.  And, third, there is a beauty shop literally on every corner here but I have been told that you don't have to have a license to cut hair here so anyone can open up a shop and try to cut hair!  I was so afraid that I would end up at one of those places!  But, today, I took the recommendation of a friend, and went to a guy that speaks heavily accented but good English.  He was great!  He was born in Iraq but moved here when he was 12.  He speaks Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic, Swedish, English, French and Spanish.  He has traveled all over the world and done all sorts of great things.  He is only about 30 but he has certainly put my experiences to shame.
But, the best part of all is that he told me that I have the "great kind of gray hair"!  He would suggest that I never color it, because it is beautiful!  He said that he wanted to tell me that from the minute that I walked into his shop but he felt like he needed to know me a bit better before raving about the gray hair that maybe I didn't even know that I had!  Hilarious!  But, from a guy that colors hair for a living, I will take that all as a very nice compliment!
The kids had a nice treat at school today.  The Yale University Alley Cats came and gave a concert.  Max said it was fantastic and everyone seemed to love it.  I will have the opportunity to hear them tomorrow night at a concert for the school board and PTA.
Tabitha is finally feeling quite a bit better today!  She spent most of the day just studying and resting but she was able to take Coco for a short walk and to eat dinner with us.  Thank goodness!
