Another Long Weekend

The kids are on yet another break from school so we are enjoying a long weekend of Josh and the kids being at home.  Today is the May 1 holiday and then tomorrow is off just because it is a Friday in between a holiday and a weekend.  Tabitha is thoroughly enjoying having her own beautiful apartment for the weekend while she dog/house sits for a friend of mine for 5 days.  She doesn't seem to miss us a bit!
Last night, we roamed the city, checking out the many bonfires that were lit to celebrate Valborg.  Here are just a few of the many pictures…

There were masses of people, drinking, laughing, singing, eating and just walking around.  The streets of the city were dead quiet and all businesses were closed as people just celebrated with the bonfires.
Prior to the fires, our street was lined with old cars for some sort of unofficial old car show.  This often happens on the first Friday of the month but apparently also on Valborg's eve.

After wandering around in the cold, occasionally drizzly, evening.  We headed home to just hang out and relax.  A wonderful Wednesday evening!

Today, we were able to sleep in until one of Max's friends showed up to play.  We were very unhappy to discover a light dusting of snow this morning and much colder temperatures!  Fortunately the snow melted very quickly and although the sun did come out, the temperature never got much above 45 and with a cold wind.  We still managed to head out for a long, long walk around yet another island in the city.  Max and his friend enjoyed playing in the park for hours while Josh and Calvin took a long bike ride.  Not much else going on today since everything is closed for the holiday.
