Fjäderholmarna

Another day of exploring our city… Today, we headed out by ferry to the closest island in Stockholm's archipelago.  The name of this island is Fjäderholmarna and I think that the only way to properly pronounce it is to just imagine how the Swedish chef from the Muppets might say it and go from there. We didn't try to pronounce it, we just got on the ferry in Stockholm and headed there.  After a quick 25 minute trip, we arrived at this very beautiful but small island that is geared mostly to tourists.

It is super cute and even a little rugged.  The boys had a great time clambering over the rocks, playing with sticks and skipping stones.  You would never know that they are both teenagers when they get busy playing!

There are plenty of restaurants, a whisky museum, a brew pub, a boating museum, a silver smith, a glass blower, and various shops around the island.  But mostly, we just wandered and played.

Until we got too cold and the skies got too threatening.  We then decided that it was time to check out the brew pub and then head for home.

We hopped on the ferry just in time as the rain started coming down…
