Never Dull

Stockholm may be small by most city standards but there is always something interesting going on.  We had a great time at the huge Stockholm Fields Festival last night!  I had heard that more than 50,000 people were in attendance, but we were one of the few lucky ones that did not have to pay or fight the crowds.  My friend, Meg, has an apartment on the fourth floor that directly faces the two big stages erected for the concerts.  We were able to "enjoy" Slayer, Danzig, Ghost and Metallica from the comfort of Meg's home.  None of us are exactly rockers or huge fans but I have to admit, it was fun.  Max M and Quincy went with us and despite the fact that they had to hang out with the oldies, they really enjoyed themselves and loved the free food and view.

The best part was that we were directly looking over the "jail" tents that the police had set up for crowd control.  Always fun to watch the drunk, obnoxious people get hauled in in handcuffs and either kicked out the concert or hauled away in a paddy wagon.

We headed home just before the concert ended and despite the bus rerouting and subway changes, we made it home before the huge masses were let loose.

Today was off and on rainy so while the boys went to a big food market and to do some more souvenir shopping, Josh and I took a long, meandering (and often times, wet) walk through the city.  As I said, there is always something big going on around here.  Today, we saw some cultural dancing in the streets (couldn't tell which culture it was!) and the huge Stockholm marathon with 17,000 runners.

And, just the normal pretty views…
