Badminton and South African food

We woke up to a little bit of snow this morning.  It was the first time in more than a week that we have had fresh snow.  I have to say that I was not overly thrilled to go back to the wet, sloppy sidewalks, boots and floors!  Oh well, it is winter in Sweden.  I guess snow is to be expected.
I headed out to meet my badminton group at the club and we had another fun and funny morning of play.  I brought my camera along today so I was able to catch some of the action.

The club is always full of older (elderly) men playing some pretty serious badminton each week.  We always just smile and walk past to our courts, but today, I happened to notice that they had bottles of gin with them that they were taking sips from both on and off the court!  We play at 9:30 in the morning!  What kind of Swedish tradition is that?
Promptly after badminton, it was time to hop on a train and head out to a beautiful suburb for lunch.  My South African friend had invited several of us over for lunch.  I was thrilled to try her (new to me) foods and to hear all about the South African culture.  Her husband is a diplomat for the South African embassy.  It was very interesting to hear what that job entails.
We had a wonderful meal of pap, vegetables and a lamb dish.  Fantastic!

We are so rarely in a house versus an apartment, it was quite exciting  just to walk around a bit and to enjoy the space and light!
Another wonderful day of food, fun and friends!
In case you think that I have forgotten about my kids... they all continue to just thrive!  Tabitha has been doing a lot of babysitting so that she has more money to spend when hanging out with her friends.  Calvin is busy with school, tennis, drum lessons, and he now volunteers one day a week at the school computer help desk.  He and his friends have also discovered that it is fun to stop at Seven Eleven after school for some snacks and "hanging out".  Max is also busy with basketball, cricket, guitar, homework and being the social guy that he is!
