A Cricket Match!

Today, it was time to head out on the commuter train to one of the farthest suburbs of Stockholm.  We have never been out so far and it took almost 40 minutes by train.  We ended up in a cute little suburb full of typical Swedish homes and some very snowy streets.  We were there to attend Max's first cricket match!  His team is just being created and so far, they have only scrimmaged against each other at school.  Today, however, their coach arranged from them to play against another U15 team that is part of the Stockholm cricket league.  Max and his team mates were quite obviously new to the sport compared to their opponents but they held their own pretty well (I think the final score was 60-3) and all had a great time.  Josh and I enjoyed watching and learning a little bit about the sport.

And, if you know anything about cricket, you will realize what is wrong with this picture...
Max accidentally hit the wicket with his bat which gave him an automatic out.

Anyway, it was a fun way to spend the afternoon and we hope to see more cricket matches in our future!  For the sake of the ages of the kids, this match only lasted long enough for each team to have an at bat, so just over an hour... Not for days at a time...
Yet another interesting thing that I learned about Sweden is that they do not use return addresses on envelopes.  A friend had mentioned to me that if she takes something to the post office to be mailed and it has a return address on it, they will cross it off and tell her that it is too confusing.  I have never experienced this myself so I have just continued to write my return address in the upper left corner of the envelope as usual.  Last week, I mailed an envelope to Quincy in this manner.  It came back to me the following day because they had just used the return address as the normal address!  I guess I will have to drop the return address habit and hope my mail gets to where it belongs!
