Walking in the Rain

Woke up this morning to a kind of cold, dreary rain.  But, I had volunteered to lead the walking club again so there was no crawling back into bed.  I pulled on my rain boots, rain pants and rain jacket (none of which were ever necessary in our pre-Stockholm life so I didn't even own them - now they are a regular part of my wardrobe!) and headed out the door.  Our walking group was much smaller than usual today because the kids only had a half day of school and then Spring Break began.  Many families were leaving early for trips to some exotic locale or another.
Those of us that were there had a very pleasant walk despite the weather and a wonderful fika as usual at the end.
We saw a little bit of cloudy beauty along the way today which included two policemen on horseback, patrolling the trails of the island.

After our walk and the walk home, I barely had time to get some groceries before the kids were home from school.  Everyone is excited because we will leave for a week in France on Monday.  Can't wait to see old friends and familiar sights!  Josh came home from work with a sore throat and stuffy head so we are hoping that he isn't actually sick before our trip!
Two interesting things that I recently read...

And, in a country with an already fantastic quality of life and more benefits then most people even dream of, Sweden is considering switching to a six-hour work day model with full 40 hour/week pay scale!
