A New Stockholmer?

A cold, gloomy, rainy day turned into a lot of fun when I went to play badminton this morning with my club.  One of my friends had brought along a woman from California (originally from Canada) who will be moving here in August. Kayla is here this week to scout out Stockholm and to look for a place to live.  She is a "go-getter" who got herself involved with the school and the PTA even before her arrival!  I have to admire that!  So, she has been meeting lots of people this week and going to several of my clubs to meet more!
After playing some chatty badminton, Monica and I went out to lunch with Kayla, before Kayla and I hit the streets on our own to do some exploring.  Fortunately, the rain stopped so we were able to roam around Gamla Stan, hitting the souvenir shops before I walked her around the city, pointing out good places to live, showing her the ways to travel the city and to walk to school, and then showing her how the grocery shopping works around here, and finally showing her our flat, as an example of city living for a family of five.

Very fun!  Kayla will make a great addition to our little ex-pat society.  She headed back to her hotel when my kids got home from school.  Calvin and I had to go back to school this evening for a meeting about the IB diploma program.  When Calvin is in the 11th grade next year, he will be participating in this 2 year program.  Very intense and very interesting!  Good to get all the information now!
Max got a couple of great puzzles from his grandparents today, so he had a great way spend his cold evening!
