A Night Out

Josh, Janis and Max spent the day wandering around old town and doing some souvenir shopping yesterday while Calvin played tennis and Tabitha did homework.

Then, late yesterday afternoon, Janis took over the parenting duties while Josh and I took off for a night out.  Josh booked us a room at a hotel a little bit outside of downtown Stockholm, and since he has all sorts of frequent stayer status at this particular chain, we were upgraded to the very best suite in the hotel.  Very fun and so relaxing!  We basically enjoyed the views from our windows, taking long walks along the water and just relaxing.  We had a wonderful dinner out last night and lounged around for much of the day today since our check out wasn't until 6 p.m!

Our hotel was originally a salt mill, built in 1890.

Janis and the kids managed just fine without us.  Janis got to watch Calvin win a couple of tennis matches last night and then today, Tabitha and Janis spent the day exploring Skansen together.  Skansen is a beautiful open air museum about Swedish history and culture.

When we all got back together again today, we decided to go out for some fantastic Thai food as our last hurrah with Grandma before she flies back to the States tomorrow.
I am sure that Janis will be happy to get back home so she can relax and to be surrounded by the familiar again but we have certainly enjoyed having her here!
