It was only in the 40's here but the sun was shining and everyone was happy. As soon as the kids left for school, I headed out to walk the mile and a half to one of the city parks to meet my exercise class. We immediately hit the hills and running trails hard, and worked our tails off at getting fit. We always draw a little crowd as loud, English-speaking, exercising women but we have fun and the Swedes seem more entertained by us than annoyed by us!
Walking home, I noticed that the restaurants are all setting up their patio tables and lining the sidewalks with tables and chairs. They are more than ready for spring to be here. All of the outdoor tables have a throw blanket ready for whoever wants to sit outside and stay warm, and they were being used in abundance today.
Another thing that I noticed is that all of the public short term rental bikes are now in place. Just like in London and Paris, you can pay a small fee and rent a bike wherever you want and just return it to the closest bike rack to wherever you end up. Pretty cool system!
After a quick shower, I joined my friend, Lori at one of those sidewalk cafes for a wonderful lunch and fika in the sunshine. We could hardly make ourselves leave the sunshine to get on with our day.
When I got home, I completed my first Hungarian Lúdláb cake that had learned how to make earlier in the week. I wasn't so much hungry for the cake again as I wanted to prove that I could do it! It is a long and complicated recipe but mine turned out well and I am quite proud of it!
I took the new woman that I had met yesterday out for a drink this evening and to introduce her to a few more friends,
and when I got home 2 hours later, this is how my cake looked...
I guess that it tastes pretty good! My kids sure seemed to think so!
