Beaches and Ramparts
Again, I can't get any pictures to post but will try again in the morning. We have been having a wonderful trip down memory lane here... Visiting our favorite spots, restaurants, walking trails and friends. We had actually forgotten just how beautiful and picturesque everything is here but now it seems like I have to take a picture every time I turn a corner. It is hard to get anywhere that way! Josh worked with a R&D Europe management team get together all day on Wednesday and Thrusday while the kids and I hung out with various friends. The weather was so perfect on Wednesday with temperatures in the high 60's to 70 that after a long walk along the coast in the morning, we headed to our favorite ocean beach for the afternoon. While the kids played in the sand and with a volleyball and frisbee, Sabine and I took another long, long walk along the beautiful coast. Stunning views, a little rock climbing and a great walk! After we finally came back home, Tabitha went out for the evening with friends while the rest of us went to the home of another good friend for dinner. Good food and good company but a late night! This morning, Josh was free all day so we headed out to see his favorite sights. We ended up on a long walk along the city wall, the old town and all along the port. We had a fantastic meal at our favorite creperie and even did a little souvenir shopping. Vannes is actually a "small" city so three times, we ran into people that we know. Apparently the noisy, tall Americans are easy to spot! After visiting with Quincy's friend Hugo, this evening, we headed to the home of another friend for an apéritif. I am truly amazed at how our French has come back to us! After almost five years, I can still completely follow the conversation at a dinner party. I usually answer in English or Franglish, but I totally know what is being said. The kids and Josh are GREAT! They rarely make French mistakes and can really participate. We had to say good-bye to Sabine and her family today. We will stay in their house for one more day but they left to go to their family Easter gathering. We have loved spending time with all of them and really hate to say good-bye! Hopefully, this time, it will not be almost four years until we see them again! After sending the kids out for pizza, Josh and I headed to the old town once again for dinner at our favorite restaurant. It did not disappoint us at all and we were thrilled when the owners remembered us after all these years!
