Scones and Skating

Always curious as to what this little house is doing among all of the big commercial buildings and apartments

We had some little glimpses of the sun and blue sky today!  I heard that we only had 6 hours of sunshine in the whole month of January, so we are certainly all craving anything that we can get!  The temperature was right around 40 again so Coco and I took a long morning stroll to enjoy the weather.
I just missed the bright sun!
A snippet of blue sky in the afternoon
After coming back home to do my "chores" and to bake some scones...
... I headed out to meet some friends for some ice skating.

Since we are getting more confident on our skates and building up our endurance, this time, we headed to the big public ice rink.  This is maintained and provided for free by the city.  They freeze an entire American football field of ice and resurface it a couple of times a day.  Beautiful!
We had an additional friend with us today.  Nancy hadn't been on skates since primary school but she did great!  After skating for almost two hours, my legs were tired and it was time to head home for my Swedish lesson.  Don't worry!  Since we didn't have the time or location to go out for fika after our activity, Monica brought some wonderful sugar danishes to the rink!  You wouldn't want us wasting away to nothing!
My Swedish teacher was telling me about the Swedish belief in public information.  All information including your salary, personal identity number, kids public school records, etc is available to anyone who wants it.  The only things kept private are medical records and mental health records.  And, all medical records are filed in an electronic medical record system based on your identity number so they can be accessed by all doctors providing your care.  Interesting.
I took some random pictures while on my walk this morning that I thought I would share...
Just across from our building (ours is the yellow building), they are enlarging and updating a huge public pool
An auto repair shop, in the basement of a building next door to us
The entrance is red, you just drive across the sidewalk to get there
A cross country skiing track in a stadium in town
