Lego Castles and Rocky Cliffs

We ventured west of Faro today to the towns of Silves and Carvoerio.  Silves is a gorgeous little town on the banks of the Rio Arade.  We were amazed to see such a Spanish type of architecture versus the more Moorish architecture that we saw in Tavira.  They are quite close in proximity but obviously constructed under different influences.  Silves has one of the best preserved castles in the Algarve region and resembles the blocky architecture of Legos.  We had a great time wandering it's walls before venturing into the hilly little town.

We ate some African inspired food for lunch and once again, some of the most delicious oranges on earth.  We have eaten pound after pound of these fresh, amazing oranges that grow every where we look in this region.  They are sold for 2€ per 5 kilo so we are eating them by the truck load.  Fantastic!

After wandering the streets and touring the archeology museum, we got back into our tiny car and drove to Carvoerio.  This is another touristy, seaside town.  However, this one is built high up on the cliffs and has gorgeous rock formations in addition to it's beaches.  We just hiked, climbed and soaked in the beauty!
