Fika and House Hunters International

I so love to play host!  Today, was my chance.  I hosted a small fika at my flat for several of my friends.

We have been approached to be on House Hunters International on HGTV!  This is one of our favorite shows and something we had always hoped to be able to do!  We are in the process of talking to the producers and getting the filming scheduled.  Of course, since we have already moved here, we will have to go through the motions again, as though we haven't already moved.  We are quite excited.  I will keep you posted and let you know when it all happens.
In the meantime, several of my "foreign" friends have never heard of the show.  So, after recording a couple of episodes, I invited them over for a little viewing and introduction to the show.  They all loved it and had a great time thinking of my family being on it!

As you can see, I am not the only one who loves to take pictures of anything and everything!
Calvin had his 3 hour gym class today of ice skating.  He loved it and came home, nice and sore and tired.  He was THRILLED to see all of the treats and leftovers from my fika in the kitchen.  He quickly got busy doing what he could to polish things off!
The stereo-type is that Swedes are shy.  The Swedes even say that themselves.  They do not invite confrontation or even friendly chit chat unless approached first.  However, when they do share, they tend to OVERshare.  Josh always notices this when one of his staff calls in sick and tells him every detail of their illness!  We also see it in communications from some of the Swedish teachers at the kids' school.  This is one example of a text that I received last night from Calvin's guitar teacher...

Dear Students & Parents,
I am very sorry for the late message, but I just now received extremely exciting news that this evening I both won the bid on an apartment that I have been fighting for, and I made a sale on my current apartment! I did not expect this all to go through tonight because it was a long shot that everything would work out, but it has, and now I need take care of a lot of financial arrangements with the realtor and the bank tomorrow to see to it that this all happens correctly and that the money is transferred properly.

So, I am afraid I will need to reschedule my lessons for tomorrow. I will contact you all sometime in the afternoon to discuss resceduling for Friday or even over the weekend if you prefer. Thank you, and again I am sorry this late announcement.

It's actually a dream come true, my current apartment is about the size of the Music Office at SiS, and now, not only will I finally have a bedroom for the first time in many years, but I will also have a place to set up my music studio and all of my instruments :)

Thank you for understanding this unexpected event! Kind regards, Noah
