The kids and Josh spoiled me rotten all day long, so my birthday lunch turned out to be a big ice cream sundae! My kind of lunch!
The 2 1/2 hour drive to Lisbon was uneventful but it did rain off and on. We were able to see some beautiful and unusual scenery from rolling hills covered in orange groves and olive trees, to wine country to steep hills to scrubby, sandy desert types of vistas. Very interesting but not easily captured at 120 km per hour!
When we got to our beautiful hotel, Josh set out to entertain the kids while I checked into the day spa and had a little pampering! Josh and I then let the kids get room service (their favorite treat!) while we went out for a nice dinner for just the two of us. We didn't really bring nice clothes along for such an event but we managed to clean up okay and not embarrass ourselves. Fortunately, Portugal seems quite casual and far from being a fashion capital!
This morning, it was time to catch our flight and head back to Sweden! It is always nice to be home, to do laundry, buy groceries and to sleep in your own bed. The fog and cooler temperatures with light rain are all just part of the package! We had a great vacation and won't complain a bit!
