As today is Fat Tuesday, it was the official day to eat Semla in Stockholm. They were being sold EVERYWHERE today and bakeries even had cash registers and tables on the sidewalks so semla-buyers would not even have to go into the shop to purchase their semla. I bought one small one for each of us to eat tonight with our dinner. The kids also all had them at school today for lunch.
Yesterday, Valerie was feeling a bit under the weather so we didn't do too much. She did take a short boat tour around the islands of Stockholm with Pierre-Augustin while I had fika with friends but then we all just came home and took it easy, watching a recorded version of the Oscars from Sunday night.
This morning, all was well again, and the weather totally cooperated with temperatures in the low 40's and even a nice bit of sunshine. So, we headed out...
After a very nice, Swedish lunch, we came back home, grabbed our ice skates and headed out again for some afternoon ice skating. Pierre-Augustin and Valérie both had limited skating experience but enough that they did just fine and we all had a good time. Admittedly, the ice is no longer as nice as it had been because it has just been too warm. It was a bitty slushy which can be dangerous if you try to go too quickly. Valérie had one small fall but seemed to recover very quickly.
This evening, Pierre-Augustin and Valérie made our dinner so I had the night off and simply enjoyed our yummy meal!
