Carl Milles and Yardwork

Moving into a very urban flat in the middle of a big city, we thought that our days of yardwork were temporarily over, but no such luck!  This morning was the spring clean up for our building.  We have a small backyard that is jointly the responsibility of all of the residents of our building.  There are about 15 apartments in our building and apparently, no one has done any work in the backyard for quite some time.  It was an overgrown mess and definitely needed some work.  So, the troops were gathered and many people showed up to help.  We worked hard but it was quite fun to meet some of our neighbors and to work with them.  Of course, everyone was more than kind enough to speak only English to and around us so that we knew what was going on.  Calvin was at tennis but Max, Janis, Nichole, Josh, Tabitha, and I all helped.  Max worked exceptionally hard since he was selected to help one guy dig out all of the old roses bushes.  He is tired tonight!  We worked for a couple of hours in the bright, sunny day before calling it quits until next week.  We all accomplished quite a bit but there is plenty more to do.
After cleaning up, the girls headed out to Gamla Stan for a little more sight seeing and shopping while Josh, Janis and I headed out to the island of Lidingö to visit the former home and sculpture garden of Carl Milles.  Millesgården is a beautiful place, full of sculptures and history.  It also housed an art exhibit today by Man Ray.  Very interesting and very enjoyable on a sunny, warm day.
