I got to walk part of the way to school with Tabitha and Max today. They don't usually invite me to join them but they needed me to stop at the train station with them to recharge their subway passes so they didn't mind me tagging along. Calvin had already left for school early as he had a drum lesson this morning.
Talking to the international crowd of women that comprises my walking group is never dull. Everyone is so interesting and has so many life stories to share. One thing that I have noticed is that people come and go easily. Everyone makes strong friendships quickly but also understands that this is all temporary and it will eventually be time to go... Every day, we find out someone else is leaving our group as the job or life will soon take them somewhere else. But, we also know that someone new will be coming along as well. A very interesting way to live...
Anyway, in talking to women that are married to a Swede, we realize that they choose to live here, rather than anywhere else in the world or in their own home country because "it is financially stable, safe, has good schools, and has good healthcare". They are choosing their country, much like the rest of us choose a school district, or a neighborhood...
