Two Museums

Don't worry, someone is working hard in this family while the rest of us play...
Last night, we finally got to see Josh's office and meet some of the people that he has been working with for the past two years.  Fun to see him in action in the big corner office!  His Swedish co-workers call him Yosh as that is how J's are pronounced in Swedish.  Pretty funny to hear!

Today was another day of play for the rest of us.  After breakfast, we headed out to the very close by Norbotten Museum to learn about this northern area history and culture and to learn something about the Sami people that are indigenous to this region.  Very interesting.  Our education was a bit hit or miss since some of the exhibits were only in Swedish but we certainly managed to learn something and to even take a sleigh ride...

After enjoying ourselves for a couple of hours, we set out on foot to the other side of Luleå to the University of Technology campus where we toured the science center/museum.

It was great fun and really well put together.  The kids got to make paper, pan for gold, drive a train, fly a hot air balloon and mine for iron ore.  Pretty cool!

And, my favorite exhibit of all... Since this is Sweden where hockey is king...  We got to challenge our reflexes by playing goalie against the machine and against each other.  This 43 year old mom could certainly hold her own in this challenge!

In just three hours, our Luleå time ends and we get back on the train for another overnight back to Stockholm.  We have had a great week!
