Today, the sun never came out, the wind was blowing and the temperature never got above 48 degrees! We were all "freezing"! I am not sure that we are ready for the winters that we are going to have around here!
After the kids left for school, I got Molly and Melia situated for the day. They have realized already how expensive everything is in Stockholm and after calling their parents a couple of times, asking for permission to take more money out of the ATM, they decided to just do free things today and to skip the fika! They went to the Natural History museum (above) and the Nordic history museum - both of which are free for kids 18 and under. I took the bus with them to show them the way but I didn't stay. They ended up having a very good time at both before doing a little shopping an actual vinyl record store just down the street from our flat.
I headed to this "big" grocery store that someone from my book club told me about yesterday. Even though it was described as "huge", "like a true American supermarket", I had no real expectations that it actually would be. But, it was!!! That elusive big grocery store where you can find everything in one place and buy "big" (not Sam's size but normal big) sizes and quantities of things! We had one in France but it was out in the suburbs, I never expected to find one in the city and actually within a 15 minute walk of our flat! I was thrilled! Of course, I wasn't prepared to find it, so I did not bring my old lady grocery cart with me so I could only buy what I could carry back home. Oh well, I can always come back! By the time I got home, I was cold and tired though, so it seemed like a good time to cook! I spent the afternoon/evening making chocolate chip cookies, homemade bread and creamy potato and roasted red pepper soup. Delicious!
Calvin is currently working hard, finishing his homework. Tonight, he had to write a 2-3 page essay for MATH class... Hmmmm... this school system might be a little strange...
