Julmarknad

A gorgeous, sunny day although it did not get much above freezing all day.  Josh and I buckled down and ran some errands.  Finally got some more of the things that we needed to make our flat feel more like our home.  Several of the rooms only had bare light bulbs dangling from the ceiling so we invested in some light fixtures.  We also needed brighter light bulbs for everything since it is always dark here!  After doing our shopping and carrying our light fixtures home on the subway, we hung pictures, put up lights, changed light bulbs and just felt settled in.  Very nice!  While we were gone, the kids had friends over to all watch the latest episode of "Dr Who".  This was a very exciting special episode and they have been waiting months for it to come out!  Quincy got to see it live last night with his group of friends, (he had a great time rubbing that in to his siblings) but our kids here had to wait til iTunes released it this morning so that they could download it.  I am not a Dr Who fan but apparently it was "great" and well worth it!

After it got dark, we all headed down to the Christmas market in Gamla Stan (old town).  The Christmas lights were lit and the market opened officially last night.  It will now be open daily until Christmas.  It was so much fun and so beautiful!

Booths selling waffles, hot chocolate, spiced nuts, mulled wine, cheeses, candy, sausages, homemade crafts, jams, jellies, etc, etc, etc...

It was cold but worth it!  I can't wait to go back, now that I have scoped it out and know more of what I want to buy!  With the Christmas carols playing on the loud speakers in front of the Nobel museum, we got our first real feel of Christmas this year!

When we came home, it was Max's turn for his Swedish lesson over Skype.  He did a great job and somehow learned more than the rest of us in only one hour!
