American Pancakes

Today started out with a gorgeous walk through the park with Coco.  The sun is now rising at about 7:45 but at 8:30, it still looked like this on top of the hill in the park.  After walking Coco, I took off for my badminton club.  We had such a GREAT time today!  Lots of talking, laughing, playing and just plain fooling around.  My foursome was made up of a woman from Hungary, one from Norway, and one from India.  Love this group!  Once again, I got a ride back to the center of town with one of the other women.  It feels so strange to ride in a car when you only do it every couple of weeks!

I headed to school when I got into town to get signed up for the PTA Julbord.  This is a big Swedish Christmas tradition that I did not want to miss.  I heard this morning that spaces were very limited for the event on Dec 10 so I ran over to school to get my money turned in!

While walking back home, I took a few random pictures of things that I saw along the way.  I will never get tired of the variety of architecture.

Stockholm is quite hilly.  Hills seem to pop up everywhere and some are quite steep.  This is the one that the kids climb to school each day.

One side of the hill usually has a street whereas the other side has steps because it is so steep.
The kids only had a half day of school today because of teacher in-services so while Tabitha went out with friends for the afternoon, Calvin and Max came home at 1 p.m.  We decided that this would be a good time to head out for lunch at that American pancake place that we have been trying to get into.  Impossible on weekends but no problem after 1 p.m. on a weekday.  Most of the work force in Stockholm has a lunch hour between noon and one, so while restaurants might be packed during that time, they tend to clear out after 1.
We got our pancakes!  They were absolutely delicious but not quite American.  Not as big or fluffy but with a variety of toppings and very good.  Calvin got the apple cinnamon ones that you can see above.  Covered in maple syrup which you can't beat.   His side of bacon was a huge serving and in that strange sort of bacon lump but still tasted good!  The three of us had a great time and made it home just before the day turned rainy!
And, our big news today was that Tabitha got her first college acceptance letter!  She found out that she was accepted at Tulane in New Orleans.  Very exciting!
