Stockholm has been around for a long time but wasn't officially mentioned in documents until 1252. Long before that however, it was a small city on four small islands in the archipelago. When excavating for a parking garage for the parliament members in the late 1970's, a very large portion of the original medieval wall was found. This was left in situ and the museum that we toured today was built around it. Excellent.
Our archeologist tour guide was filled with all sorts of interesting information! She told us about the Swedish occupation in Prague during the Thirty Years War, which I knew nothing about. She also told us that the common phrase, "Watch out!" or "Se upp!" in Swedish was a required shout before you were going to dump your chamber pot onto the street in old town Stockholm from a high window. If you failed to shout this warning before dumping, you were fined. Seems like a very reasonable law to me!
Max's basketball team had a mini tournament this afternoon with the other local International school. He is still unable to play but he did go with the team and cheer them on. He also got in some free throw shooting practice during breaks.
Tabitha continues to send pictures once in awhile so I can get some glimpses into her life. Wish my big boys would do the same...
Loved seeing this hanging over the pedestrian shopping street today!
"Have a cool Halloween!"
