The City of Reykjavik

This morning, we walked around the city for a bit on our own before going inside the Hallgrímskirkja. The church is wonderfully unique outside but quite simple and plan inside! Very interesting. We went up in the bell tower to get some beautiful views of the city from above.
We then ate lunch before meeting our city walking tour guide. Martinn showed us all around the main center of the city and gave us all sorts of information about the Icelandic culture and history. Very interesting!

The snow started falling during our tour and has yet to let up. We braved the cold and continued a little more walking and exploring on our own after the two hour tour. We warmed up a little by having an afternoon snack. We enjoyed a hot dog at Reykjavik's most famous restaurant.  Bill Clinton are here in 2004.
We are now completely disappointed to discover that our two day adventure trip for tomorrow has been cancelled! This was supposed to be the high point of our trip with ice caves, lava fields, volcanoes, black beaches and glacier hiking! But, apparently a big storm is coming and everything is cancelled. So, we will hunker down in the city and see what tomorrow brings.
