The Blue Lagoon

After a lazy morning and long breakfast in Stockholm, we hopped on an easy 3 hour direct flight to Iceland. What a fascinating place!! The temperature remained at about 30 degrees but landing in Iceland seemed like a frozen, flat tundra! The wind whipped acrossed the snow covered fields of lava rock. It was incredibly windy and we actually passed two buses that had slid or blown off the road.  We took a bus directly from the airport to the famous Blue Lagoon! Wow!! This natural, weirdly blue colored, huge natural hot springs was an incredible sight to behold.

We braved the wicked winds and walked around a bit before putting on our suits and jumping in! Fantastic! Warm, salty water billowing steam!   We swam around for about an hour until our faces and ears were just too cold.

After showering, changing and eating, we took another bus into the surprisingly big city of Reykjavik. We are now settled into our hotel and looking forward to checking out more unusual sights tomorrow.
