Swedish Friends

Today was my last PTA meeting as the acting secretary.  I brought a big batch of cookies to share with my fellow members and they gave me a beautiful scarf.  Such a great group!
After the meeting, I headed out for fika with a group of friends.  As we were walking down the street and talking, I realized that everyone that I was with was Swedish!  It was very interesting because I often feel like I haven't made any Swedish friends since we've been here.  I realized that I do actually have four close friends that are Swedish!  I just tend to forget that they are because they are so involved with our international community and they always speak English!
After fika and some shopping, we all went our separate ways to our homes.  The snow finally stopped falling today and the temperatures rose so sidewalks were blocked and signs were up everywhere warning of falling ice and snow.  They were out shoveling rooftops in earnest today to keep snow from falling on people's heads.  Here is a great synopsis of this phenomenon by a friend of mine...

This evening, I headed over to my friend Monica's house to join a few friends to watch our appearance on Sweden's version of MasterChef.  We attended the filming back in November and were eager to see ourselves on television.  Well, needless to say, our interviews must have ended up on the cutting room floor but you can catch a few glimpses of our face and shoulders if you look closely...

Max and three of his good friends created a video for math class and have now entered it in a national MathCounts competition.  They are really hoping to win a trip to Washington D.C. for their video.  They did an excellent job but they do need your daily votes to succeed!  Please log in every day and vote for them!
