Nobel Day!

December 10 is always Nobel day in Sweden!  Unfortunately, they had a cold and rainy day for it this year but there are all sorts of famous people in town, being given awards in the Concert house before eating a very special meal in the blue room of the city hall.  Very exciting.  The whole process is broadcast on television all evening long.  In honor of this special day, the kids at the international school were asked to dress up and to attend a special lunch in the cafeteria.  Max said that it was great although he was not thrilled about dressing up for school!
I did not appreciate the rain and cold, strong winds that we had all day long today.  I had many errands to run and actually broke two umbrellas today due to the wind whipping them inside out!  After the 2nd one broke, I had to trek home almost 2 miles without protection.  I was so happy to get home!
I just love the multi-cultural environment that we live in here.  When we were celebrating Meg's birthday on Friday, our group sang "Happy Birthday" to her in 9 different languages.  That didn't even cover all of the nationalities represented, only the boldest of the singers!

This morning, during my exercise class,  I posed a question to the group, asking if anyone knew where I could get some lady fingers to make tiramisu.  Someone suggested that I ask an Italian.  So, I looked around the room, past the two Danish women, the two Americans, the Canadian, the Hungarian, the Finnish, and the British until I got to the Italian!  She quickly answered my question and after a quick run to a little local shop, I had my lady fingers in hand.
