Two Big Days

I never got my blog posted yesterday because I was too busy all day long. Most of my day was spent in meetings with our first PTA meeting of the year followed by a junior high parent meeting.  While I was doing the meeting thing, Kerry and Courtney headed out to enjoy the sunshine and to explore Skansen.  Skansen is a 75 acre open air museum on the Stockholm island of Djurgården.  Kerry and Courtney are finding their way around Stockholm quite well and not only thoroughly enjoyed the museum but also found a great place for a late lunch and went into old town for some souvenir shopping.  They came home in the late afternoon while I headed out to the suburbs to pick up Max from baseball practice.

I got hopelessly lost with a friend, trying to find our boys, but thankfully, they were safe at the home of another friend and we all reconnected without incident.  It did make for a much later evening than we had hoped for, however.  Max completely enjoyed his baseball playing but unfortunately, the season is almost over so he won't get in much playing time.
This morning, I got up early for my outdoor exercise class while Kerry and Courtney headed out for a walk.
We then headed over to Södermalm (the south island of Stockholm) for lunch and a walking tour.  Again, Kerry and Courtney are probably experiencing the best weather EVER in Stockholm so we had another perfect day of interesting information and gorgeous views!

After the 2 hour walking tour in Södermalm's hills, we headed home to spend a little time with Max before heading over to my friend, Nancy's, house for her birthday party.  My friends were all thrilled to meet Kerry and Courtney and we all enjoyed Cuban sandwiches and Hawaiian cake.  We also enjoyed the fact that Nancy had Happy Birthday sung to her in 6 different languages, Swedish, German, Dutch, Korean, French, and English.

Prior to coming on this trip, Kerry was working hard to get in 10,000 steps per day in her daily life.  She is now averaging about 20,000 per day (today, she made it to 23,000) and loving it!
