A Storybook Castle

After getting Max off to school this morning, Kerry and Courtney and I headed out to central station to catch a regional train to the little community of Mariefred.  Mariefred is a beautiful, little typical Swedish village that happens to be the home of one of the most beautiful castles in all of Sweden.  The construction of Gripsholm Slott (slott is Swedish for castle) was began in 1537.  It is a gorgeous, fairytale kind of place on the banks of the Lake Mälaren.  Once again, we had FANTASTIC weather and wonderful day just wandering the huge castle and the gorgeous grounds!

After a fantastic al fresco lunch, we headed back to Stockholm by train.  Kerry and Courtney continued on to some last minute souvenir shopping while I hurried home to Max.  Imagine my surprise and excitement upon arriving home to realize that they have actually started to construct our private balcony!
It's not going to be big but it is all ours and our own access to outdoors!
After celebrating for a few minutes about our balcony, Max and I then headed right back out to one of the local sports complexes for his first track and field practice.  He loved it, and we both think that he is going to love this team!  Fun to watch him, running his heart out!
