Long Weekend

We had a hot and muggy week but I was able to get out and do some hiking and some biking with friends almost every morning before going to work.  My new job is great, and I absolutely love the flexibility!  Max and I were in a minor fender bender on the way home from cross country practice on Tuesday evening when some woman forgot to push hard enough on her brakes when approaching the light where we were already stopped!  No injuries and only minor car damage but still frustrating.  We continue to be plagued daily with the non-stop inconveniences of the road work being done in our cul-de-sac.  It is amazing that we are able to use our driveway at all!
Tabitha is settling in to her new school year very quickly and was very excited this week when Coke was on campus and allowed them to make personalized Coke cans for each other!
On Thursday evening, I drove to Indianapolis where I spent the night and enjoyed brunch with an old friend before driving to Calvin's school for parent shadow day.  I got to sit in on his AP Calculus, AP Biology and AP Chemistry classes before taking him home for a long weekend.  It was fun to see how his school functions and to see him in action!  We picked up Josh's mom on the way home so that she could spend the long weekend with us as well.
We had a very nice, although hot, weekend.  It started out with another fantastic cross country meet for Max!  He shaved 1 minute and 19 seconds off of his time from last week.  The course was hot and hilly but he ran well!
While Max, Calvin, and Grandma relaxed at home in the afternoon, Josh and I headed out to the little town of Peninsula where we caught the tow path and rode our bikes for 15 miles in the sweltering heat!  The shade and slight breeze made it bearable and the path is just so nice.
After a wonderful cook out and evening on the patio Saturday night, Janis, Josh, and I headed to Hudson on Sunday afternoon for the Taste of Hudson.  We listened to some music, checked out some local art and tasted some delicious food from local restaurants.  Very fun but again, just plain, sweltering!

Calvin let me take some senior pictures of him this weekend.  He was a reluctant model but it didn't seem too painful for him and I did get some good shots of our handsome young man!

Today, we undertook some more driving as we drove to my mom and dad's house.  This served the purpose of depositing Calvin with them so that they can return him to school tomorrow afternoon, we also took Josh's mom back home and Max went with grandma and grandpa to a baseball game this afternoon.  While they were sweltering in the baseball sun, we took my brother, Bruce, to the country fair.  We had a good time despite the heat, eating some junk food and catching up with some relatives!

We are now back home and ready to start another busy week!
