Cakes and More Cakes

Swedes do love their cakes and do use any occasion to celebrate with a different one.  Yesterday was Gustav Adolf day which is a day in which the Swedish people celebrate the memory of King Gustav II Adolf, who was killed on this day in 1632 at the battle of Lützen.

Today, was chocolate kladdkaka day.  This is just a gooey chocolate cake that is a favorite all over Sweden.  It is just celebrated today because everyone loves it.  I made a version for us to eat tonight for dinner.

It was cold today, only around 32 but all of the precipitation from yesterday was gone so my walking group bundled up and headed out.

I walked hard and fast, up in front with a friend today.  We both had things to do so we didn't even stop for fika at the end of our usual 10K.  I ended up walking for a solid 3 hours and 45 minutes before I finally got home to meet the radiator repair man.  We haven't had heat in two of our bedrooms since they replaced the radiators last spring.  It didn't matter too much until it started getting colder!  They are now fixed so we are ready for winter.
