Lussebullar, Bondkakor, Swedish sweets

Another great day filled with activity!  Today, I agreed to host a holiday baking class taught by Nina Mumm, the Swedish language and cultural trainer who taught us how to grocery shop a couple of weeks ago.  Because I have the largest oven in all of Sweden and a strangely large kitchen, we could all get together and work hard.  There were a total of nine of us by the time everyone arrived and we were all put to work to make a variety of Swedish holiday treats.

Marcel was the guest of honor however and we all took turns playing and holding him rather than working.  He was even dressed as a Rudolf for the occasion!  Such a cute little French baby!

Marcel's mom, Marie

We made the traditional saffron, lussebullar, with and without a marzipan filling.

We also made bondkakor.

And, marzipan balls with fruit and nuts, covered in chocolate.

Everyone took some home but I still ended up with a mountain of goodies to eat or freeze for later!

Big news on the home front is that Max was the only kid in his top math class today to be moved up to the 8th grade math book!  He was just too good to remain where he was!  He is pretty proud!
