Parks and Water

We had a wonderfully lazy morning of sleeping in and lingering over breakfast since the kids did not have school today. The bright sun rises at about 6:20 though and floods our apartment with light! It is beautiful but does tend to wake us up earlier than we might want. Calvin's room is the only one with blinds for now but this will have to change before the days of the midnight sun, the thin curtains in the other rooms do not do much light blocking.  Our property manager came over this morning to haul away some of the pile of possessions that the owners left and we do not want. He is as frustrated as we are with the owners for leaving so much of their stuff and filling so much of our storage space. He is taking care of it though so it should be gone by the time our first shipment if our stuff arrives.  He also came over to try to fix our television. It doesn't work but was supposed to be provided for us. In France, we never watched television because nothing was in English or current to the U.S. seasons. That is not the case here where there are a number if channels that are American or British and just sub-titled in Swedish.  Later in the morning, we headed out for a walk down our street to a park that I had seen on the map. It turned out to be an easy ten minute walk to a beautiful park that sits in the water. There were soccer fields, some marinas, a small beach, hills and walking trails! Beautiful! It was cold however and we didn't stay as long as we would have liked for this reason.  The high today only reached about 46 despite the bright sun!  We spent the remainder of the day hanging out at home, wandering in some of the many, many shops in our area, and grocery shopping. The grocery shopping is definitely a daily activity since we can only buy what we an carry home. I have a little cart coming in our shipment of stuff but it is not here yet. I still seem to be the only one in the store who actually buys a lot. I always felt like this in France too where everyone else seemed to be buying 2-3 items while I am filling up the conveyor belt. The fact that milk only comes in one liter cartons does not help! We go through a lot of those, even without Quincy!  The only problem with being such a spectacle is that you have to do your own bagging so the person behind is just waiting while you load up. Fortunately at our store here, they have a conveyor belt that splits in two directions so the cashier can divert the groceries of the next customer to the other side if you are going too slowly (hypothetically)...
