Sand and Snow

Josh and I just got home from a little 5 day vacation.  Unfortunately, we left the beach to come home to snow but...
We left home on Wednesday and made the 8.5 hour drive to Virginia Beach.  We were lucky enough to be invited to the ceremony on Thursday morning where our good friend from high school was given his own Naval command.  Dennis is now the commander of the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fifteen.   The ceremony was very impressive and the Navy life was very interesting to learn about!

We were able to see Dennis and his family several times over the long weekend and to take care of lots of catching up!
I was also lucky enough to see one of my grade school friends!  Michelle also lives in Virginia Beach with her Naval husband so she and I met up for coffee on Friday morning and talked for hours!  We had 30 years of catching up to do!
The rest of the trip involved some great meals with Josh, some long walks along the beach, some great explorations of the waterfront in Norfolk, and hours and hours of just walking and enjoying the sunshine.

Even though it was hard to leave and watch the temperature drop steadily and the snow start to fall on our way home, we know that we are in for a great week!  Calvin and Tabitha are already home from school and Quincy will be in a few days.  So, Thanksgiving weekend will be with all six of us under one roof!
