Max began training with the high school cross country team last week. He was nervous at first but quickly improved in his speed and endurance and has gotten to know some very nice kids. They run every morning in the nature preserve near our house. They run primarily on trails so after getting lost one morning, Max decided that he better stick with someone who knows where they are going!
Tabitha continues to love her job in Italy! This last week was the 7th birthday of one of her kids, so she baked and decorated cupcakes and then helped the parents to throw a big birthday party. They all had a great time!
Calvin is thrilled with his choice of summer camps. He is learning all sorts of engineering things and really feels like this is what he wants to do with his future.
Calvin turned 16 on Sunday! Absolutely hard to believe and we hated that he was not with us on his birthday. But, I did send him a big chocolate chip cookie cake to enjoy and my mom and dad drove down to St Louis to spend the rainy day with him. He loved it.
On Sunday, we drove Max to Notre Dame where he will attend basketball camp all week. We all love that campus and were so happy to get to walk around a bit before settling Max in. After getting Max situated, Josh and I visited with some good friends before getting back on the road.
We made a brief stop at Quincy's camp to pick up his car, as he won't need it all summer. It was great to see him and fantastic to hear how much he loves the job so far. He is going to be brown, buff and shaggy by the end of the summer, after spending hours in a kayak or canoe each day!
So, if you have been keeping track... Josh and I are alone this week! We don't have any kids at home! Woo hoo!! Not that we don't love them and miss them but this little glimpse of an empty nest is pretty fun!
