The Basement!

On Saturday, Calvin got us started on organizing and purging the storage room in our basement!  After 15 moves in 24 years, we had accumulated quite a lot of "junk" and memorabilia that needed to be cleaned up and downsized!  Without Calvin's perseverance and persistence, however, we would have ignored it for many more years to come!  But, we did start working on it on Saturday morning and by yesterday, we had sorted and tossed and organized and boxed and donated more than we had ever hoped to but it is complete and we are feeling quite happy about it all!  Whew!  What a job!
I didn't take any pictures of the before, but here is the after!

This huge job not only enabled us to get rid of some much of the worthless junk that we had been apparently collecting, but it also enabled us to share some of our true treasures with our kids!

And to find some cuties that we were afraid had been lost.
Last week before the "big basement clean out" was another busy one.  I had a few meetings at work to finish up my semester, as well as the opportunity to participate in some of the lab practicals that the students had to take.  It was fun to find out what they really know!
I also celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a friend and went to a local small food business event at our community retail kitchens.  It was fun and interesting!

And, of course, we attended several track meets!
Tabitha took off on Saturday to move down to Batesville for the summer.  She will live with some friends while she acts as an intern for the East Indiana Area Health Education Center.  She is really enjoying her first week and really gaining some practical education to go with her public health major.  She also loves getting to spend time with her old Batesville friends!
Max took 3 AP tests this week so he certainly got to use his brain and see how much he has learned!
I took one day off from the basement to volunteer at the local Children's book bank.  We sorted books for hours but had a great time reminiscing about childhood favorites!
And, I was thrilled to see Max pull out the flour and yeast when he was hungry for homemade pretzels!  A boy after my own heart... Why buy when you can make them yourself?!
