He's Legal!!

Somehow or another, Quincy turned 21 on Monday!  Wow!  Impossible to believe since Josh and I still like to think that we are in our 20's!  To totally spoil our already spoiled son and to give this monumental event it's true notice, we sent Quincy and two of his friends on a skiing trip for the week.  They flew into Salt Lake City on Monday and skied until Friday.  They had a fantastic time and were all absolutely thrilled and still in one piece by the end of the week!  The constant skiing also insured that they were too tired to go out and "celebrate" too seriously!

Quincy also had to very fun opportunity to have dinner with the family he has always considered to be his 2nd family.  The Sorensen's were our friends and neighbors in Batesville when Quincy was little.  They moved to Salt Lake City when Quincy was about 11 but James and Quincy have kept in touch off and on ever since.  Quincy has had a couple of opportunities to visit them over the years and was thrilled to have another chance to do so.  The Sorensen family took Quincy and his friends out to eat even though James is away on his mission with their church.  Quincy loved catching up and was treated like a king by this wonderful family.
While Quincy was in Utah for his spring break, Calvin was here at home for his.  He needed to finish up his service hour requirements for his graduation so we buckled down and put in some serious work.  The whole family did our orientation at the local Habitat for Humanity on Saturday so that we were ready to work during the week.  Because Calvin is only 16, I needed to work with him all week.  And, work, we did!  Wow!  True manual labor for more than 20 hours this week!  We were charged with moving the tools and building supplies from an old warehouse to a new one so we were carrying, lifting, loading pallets, putting up and taking down shelves, and organizing all week long.  We were tired, dirty and sore.  It was fun and good for us!  I took the day off from helping yesterday and sent Max and Josh in my place.  They quickly realized just how hard Calvin and I had worked all week but we all enjoyed it and hope to be able to help out at other times as well.
I also managed to squeeze in my paying job this week and thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous afternoon that we had on Tuesday by doing my marketing errands with the top down on Josh's car and the sun shining on my face!
Max also had a very tiring week as track season officially began.  He was worn out and starving every day after practice!
I also had to do lots of cooking this week as each kid always has a list of their favorites they want me to make when they are home.  I managed to make everything that Calvin was in the mood for, but it meant that we ate like pigs and are now overwhelmed with left overs!

Yesterday, while the boys were at Habitat for Humanity, I did my hardest cooking of the week, however.  I spent nearly 5 hours and many, many pots and pans making my first Swedish Princess cake.  We all loved these and bought them (as they were readily available in any bakery) often in Stockholm, so we have all been missing them. Especially Max.  He asked me to try to make one for his upcoming birthday.  So, I did.  And, even though it was loads of work, we were all thrilled with the result!
Before Josh and I went out to dinner with friends last night, we cut into the cake and had a quick celebration for Max's birthday while Calvin was still home to join us.
Amazingly enough, our "baby" will be 15 on Tuesday!  Sigh...
