I didn't want to creep out any of my new friends today by taking pictures, so I don't have anything to show for my efforts but this week, I made some break throughs in getting to know people. On Tuesday, the president of the Homeowners Assoc stopped over and gave us a very warm welcome. She also gave us the neighborhood newsletter and some contact information. It sounds like we are really going to enjoy getting to know our neighbors as soon as it stops raining long enough for us to go outside! Today, I went to the first meeting of my new comers group. I was thrilled with the people that I met! They are all women between 30 and 60 who have lived all over the place. They are friendly and welcoming and eager to meet new faces. Some moved here 10 years ago, some almost as recently as I did. We enjoyed coffee and getting to know each other before I took off for my lunch group! The lunch group has the same base of members but is a small group of the large group. A few from coffee went to lunch but I was able to meet even more people at the lunch. Really connected with a couple so I am sure that I will see them again soon. Very fun!
Max is also feeling very connected by now! He really feels like he is making friends and is enjoying school. He is also preparing for his first track meet on Monday and was thrilled today when the track coach approached him first, before anyone else, to participate in the high jump at Monday's meet.
