On Monday, we spent the day getting our apartment set up to live in for a few weeks and picked up Calvin from my mom and dad! It is so nice to have him with us for this first week in the States!
Since there was still no sign of our luggage, we then had to spend the entire evening shopping to get Josh ready for his first day of work! For normal sized people, buying one new set of clothes is not a big deal but for Josh, it is not easy at all! No one carries 32x36 pants in their stores although many are eager to say, "Oh, you can just order that online". That does not help when you need it in 12 hours! No one carries nice shirts with narrow necks and long enough sleeves! No one carries size 14 shoes either... Anyway, we finally found everything we needed, even though it meant that we had to buy unfinished pants and I was going to hem them at 10:00 in the evening... Just as we were literally paying for our last item at the last store, my phone rang to tell us that United would be delivering our luggage to our apartment by 11:00 that night! We couldn't believe it but were thrilled. We were starting to think that we would never see our things again!
So, Josh went to the first day of his new job today and very much enjoyed it. The boys and I ran errands, bought cell phones, registered Max for school and got the apartment put into some real semblance of living!
I was absolutely THRILLED to buy groceries at what will be the store closest to our house. It is a WONDERFUL store with an amazing selection! I can't wait to get in my real kitchen so I can start cooking!
