Great Places

I am finding some great places around town as I unbury myself from my boxes and get out and do some exploring!  Yesterday morning, I stopped by the community center.  Wow!!  It was amazing.  Rock climbing walls, swimming pools, exercise facilities, indoor track, senior center, cafe, juice bar, etc.  And, it was packed full of people!  This must be where everyone hangs out during the day if they are not working!  I got all of the paperwork so I can get us signed up and get myself back to my exercise classes.
I then came home and unpacked some more...  This time, I focused on finally getting our master closet organized and our suitcases put away.
I also worked on our two "offices", one for me and one for Josh!
We are still lacking some of our better furniture, kitchen items and clothes, so it will be a work in progress for awhile.  We found out that our shipment left Sweden yesterday!  Who knows what they have been doing with it since they packed it up on February 20!  Oh well, I am learning to be patient.
This morning, the weather was beautiful and although still cold, it was quite pleasant.  So, I headed down the road a couple of miles to explore one of the metro parks that is close by.  Wow!  What a great find.  Hiking trails and beautiful river views!  I enjoyed a very pleasant hike before heading home.  On the way home, I took a different route and discovered a beautiful little "village" filled with cute restaurants and shops that I will have to explore more when I am not wearing muddy hiking boots!

Last night, I reconnected with an old friend of mine on the phone.  Carol and I used to work together when we lived in Cleveland before and after 18 years of not seeing each other, we had a good time catching up last night.  We plan to get together soon.
Max is really doing great here.  I love to see it.  He has adjusted so easily and seems to be truly happy.  He is making friends, doing well in his classes, playing some great basketball in gym class every day and burning up the track for the track team.  He says that everyone is very friendly and he feels very comfortable here.
And, just when I was really missing my Stockholm friends this afternoon, I received a gift basket in the mail from one of them!  What a wonderfully thoughtful gesture!
