Family and Freudenfest

Sorry that I have been so sorely neglecting my blog!  We have had a busy but fun week.  Josh and Max arrived safely in the US on Tuesday evening after yet another travel day full of flight cancellations and delays.  They were rewarded for their troubles however by being bumped up to first class for the flight from Stockholm to Chicago.  They arrived feeling fat and happy with all of the attention and comfortable seats that they received!  We are thrilled to have everyone under one roof again!  The rest of the week was filled with coffees, lunches, and a book club meeting with my local friends.  So great to see everyone and catch up on their lives.  The kids are doing their own version of this reacquainting.

On Thursday and Friday, we were lucky enough to have my sister and two of her kids come down for a visit.  Sarah took Penny to her orientation at Mount St Joe University in Cincinnati while Alex stayed here and played with us.  My kids are not necessarily thrilled to have their picture taken but they do enjoy their cousin!

Friday evening marked the beginning of the biggest annual event in Batesville.  Oldenburg's Freudenfest!  This German festival has really grown over the years and is now the biggest event around.  It gave us the opportunity to see absolutely everyone that we know in Batesville and even some that no longer live here!  We had a great time and really enjoyed having my brother and his wife and my sister join us for the festivities on Friday.  Josh and I went in for round 2 on Saturday after the whole family attended the graduation party of a friend of Tabitha's.  Lots of polka, beer, a 10K on Saturday morning,  and fun!

This morning was a foggy one as the temperature is finally starting to rise again to more normal July temperatures.  I got up early and enjoyed the pretty views before meeting a friend in Indianapolis for some shopping.
