The kids have been encouraging me to resume our family blog and it certainly feels like a good time to do it. Having a running history of our family, filled with photos and memories is something we certainly all enjoy and reference often!
I can't believe that it has been six years though, nor how much our lives have changed since then... When I last posted, Max was in high school, Calvin had just finished his freshman year of college, Tabitha was still recovering from her nasty car accident and Quincy had one more semester of school to finish. In those intervening years, Quincy graduated, lived in St. Louis for awhile, lived in Cincinnati with us during Covid and then moved to London to study film making at MET film school in Ealing.
Tabitha left Tulane and public health, tried her hand at Kent State, tried her hand in culinary school and then worked hard in restaurant management. She is now settled nicely in Columbus with a great boyfriend and a nice job in customer service.
Max took his own circuitous route with a gap semester to explore Alaska and Europe after high school. Followed by one semester at Rose Hulman before a transfer to Rochester Institute of Technology. Covid certainly played havoc on his "normal college experience" but he is now finishing his third full time co-op and with just one more semester of school before graduating, he is looking to embrace as much travel as possible in the future.
And, then there is Calvin. Calvin's path has been straight but has now taken a nasty twist. After graduating from U of Michigan at the age of 20, he bought a house at 22 and works for U of Michigan Medicine as a software developer. He has the house, the dog and the girlfriend but in a crushing blow to all of us, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July of 2022. He has shown amazing strength and fortitude as he pushes through one terrible aspect of treatment after the next. "It is what it is" as he often reminds us....
